Chandrayaan 2 Update: Techie Says Rover has Moved Before Getting Distorted

As per the latest news, Chandrayaan 2 mission which did not go right claims to rover intact over the Earth’s Satellite Moon. Yes, this has gulped 10 months after the failure of the Chadrayaan 2 mission. But, according to the latest news, Nasa has released images showing Pragyan may have moved from its stationed position before getting distorted.

As stated by Chandrayaan 2 update,  the India Space Agency’s techie Shanmuga Subramanian has identified debris of Vikram lander using Nasa’s images as shared last year. The claim clarified that the rover had moved and created the impression of its movement over the Moon.

ISRO chairman K Sivan stated, “We’ve heard nothing from Nasa so far on this matter. But yes, the person has identified Vikram’s debris earlier and has an email on it. Our expert team is looking into the matter, but we cannot claim anything on this juncture.”

According to the earlier reports by Nasa on Chadrayaan 2 update, in November last year showed the images from Nasa’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) showed the debris of Vikram lander. It also states that as Moon’s polar regions are not lit up, the lander was not identified. It further states that the lander was pushed inside 2 meters from the surface.

As stated in the latest news, Subramanian said to the news agencies that, “Going by the January 4 images, however, I think Pragyan may be intact and that it rolled out a meter away from the lander. We need to know, how the rover moved and I hope that ISRO can confirm this.”

Being an Indian rocket to Moon for research, Chandrayaan 2 primary objective was to showcase the ability for soft landing over the lunar satellite. Additionally, it was also structured to operate a robotic rover on the surface of the Moon.

Other scientific goals according to Chandrayaan 2 update was pointed out to receive data for:

  • Studies based on Lunar Typography
  • Mineralogy
  • Elemental ambulance
  • Lunar exosphere
  • Signs of Hydroxyl and water Ice
Going back to the Chandrayaan 2 update, Subramanian also said that Pragyan rolled out actions based on some blind commands sent by ISRO’s ground command that was relayed by Vikram lander. Since then, during the early hours of the ISRO team lost communication with Vikram Lander.

K Sivan said, “We will have to analyze and see what may have happened. There is nothing concrete now.”

Further according to the sources, it was also revealed that communicated was tried to establish and understand what the disturbance would have taken place. After the hard-landing of Vikram lander over the moon, one explanation is getting afloat. This states that if Vikram lander has moved from its landing, it would have sent a command to Pragyan.

But, before anything concrete, it will be wise that Isro claims after thoughtful research.
