TRAI Releases New Channel Selector App for Quick Modification and Easy Selection in the Plan



Yes, with the advancement of digital media nowadays. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has launched a new channel selector app that will help all the TV subscribers to add new channels in their plan by easy removal of unwanted channels. According to the latest news by TRAI, it will be issuing new tariff orders for the broadcasting TV channels. Further, the news update also added that as the forum has noticed that the consumer regularly faces issues related to TV channels packs, customized packages according to their likes and needs. Or the applications that are sent to various Distribution Platform Operators (DPO) are left unanswered. 

So, as per the latest information by the governing authority, an app has been created to fetch data from DPOs. 

Further according to the latest news in Hindi, the app is presently available on iOS and Google Play Store. The latter also houses four of the leading distribution operators from the country i.e. Tata Sky, Airtel TV, d2h, and DishTV. Additionally, as per the news update by the board, they also confirmed that this also includes four MSOs (Multiple System Operators), Hathway, SITI network, In Digital and not to forget Asianet.

TRAI claims that this all together when compiled gives 50% of the subscription services. 

According to the reliable latest information, it is learned that twelve of the other MSO will soon be joining the team for the new channel selector app. Earlier, the launch of the new channel selector app was scheduled for April. But, withstanding the rough patches of the pandemic TRAI has recently launched the app for smooth and easy functioning of television subscriptions without delay. 

According to the latest news shared by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India Chairman R.S.Sharma said, “We have to realize that situations become easier when they are well-communicated and stand transparent. Our main objective is to facilitate the consumer who has been through with us for a long time. This move will also enrich the potential ties with our stakeholders for a longer run.” 

How to use TRAI’s Channel Selector App?

According to the latest information shared by TRAI on using the new channel selector app. It is learned that it conquers a four-step process.  
  • Firstly, the consumer needs to select their DTH or service provider from the list given. 
  • Login by entering basic details such as mobile number, subscriber ID, or setup box ID. 
  • Further, the user can check his account and the summary of the channels that he is currently using. 
  • Additionally learned by the latest news, the user can also amend the given summary and details to add and delete channels to one's wishes and needs. 
Additionally, it is learned through news updates by TRAI, the app helps the user to optimize the subscription before it gets forwarded to the channel/package distributor. So, the user could get the best value for the money spent. 

This will also keep the individual service distributor aligned with TRAI and everything will become transparent and well-justified by both parties.
